Chateau Guiraud - Premier Grand Cru Classe Sauternes 1855 - has been through a handful of changes of the past 30 years but one important element has remained - the winemaker Xavier Planty. Xavier has been at the head of Chateau Guiraud's winemaking since 1984 and, from the start, has championed Bio-Diversity in all of Guiraud's vines. It was this dedication to natural harmony and the spectacular results that motivated the new partners - Robert Peugeot, Olivier Bernard and Stephan Von Neipperg - to persue official organic certification in 2008.
Located 45 km south from Bordeaux, on the left bank of the Garonne River, Chateau Guiraud extends over 128 hectares. The whole estate is located in the village of Sauternes which is quite remarkable.
